NVQ in Security Services

Course Objectives

Edexcel Level 2 NVQs in providing Security Services gives recognition of candidates' skills, knowledge and understanding and is aimed at people providing security functions in a range of different settings, foe example static and patrol security guards, retail, door supervisors and CCTV operators

Course Units

Mandatory

• HSS 1 - Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• SLP 2 - Communicate effectively and efficiently in the work place
• ICS 9 - Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
• SLP 4 - Control security incidents
• Unit 224 - Produce documents

Optional units

Candidates who wish to take a specialised pathway, i.e. Static/patrol guarding, Events security, Door supervision, Retail security or CCTV operation are restricted in their choice of optional units. There is a greater choice of units in the non specialist pathway but three of these units must be achieved in addition to the mandatory units for the award.

Students will be provided with the course materials relevant to the work required which will guide them through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge. Work- based assessors will carry out workplace observations to confirm the course assessment criteria.
