Close Protection Training
Below are course feedback comments from our Close Protection course which was run in March 2007, the candidates have given their permission to print their comments and names.
To start with I would like to thank Lee Mardghum (Trainer) for sharing his vast experience amongst the trainees on the course. He had no reservations of passing his knowledge to create well-trained, knowledgeable close protection officers.
I have attended training courses in the past, but this was excellent, interesting and nicely balanced. I have really enjoyed the information received, techniques taught and the people involved. The course itself was interactive, clearly structured with necessary practical training in busy London areas.
There were ups and downs, however both Lee and Kieron (2nd trainer) were always helpful in practical training as well as theoretical parts of this training programme. This reminded me that “there are things to learn whatever age you are”. It was very well organised and well supported by the office staff and RST management.
The training environment was excellent. The boardroom for our training was beyond my expectations, I hope it will be the same for future training programmes of this nature. Normally I forget what was taught and only remember what I have learnt, for an exception, I hope this time I will remember what I was taught.
To conclude, I should like to thank Brian Hilton, David Daulby, Paula Milburn and the rest of the RST team, Lee and Kieron, please keep it up – well done and Many Thanks once again.

I would like to thank RST for an informative course made interesting and practical. I have gained a lot of useful knowledge to add to my skills.
The course being practical and informative allowed you to think for yourself and make mistakes. In making mistakes we were able to see easier where we had gone wrong and make the relevant adjustments. It is a good method of teaching as it is easier to remember the better course of action.
I have had Lee as a trainer before and enjoy his method of teaching. He is one of the best, everybody I have met in RST is friendly and professional.

The RST close protection training course is thorough and comprehensive. The teaching is aimed at all students with equal respect. What you put in is what you get out. Coupled with superb instruction and instructor knowledge. Other courses may glorify and show close protection as a glamorous profession, RST shows the reality of close protection and gives the relevant training to cope with that reality.
The course far exceeded my expectations and I have greatly benefited and would recommend this to anyone considering close protection training.

Consultancy & Recruitment
'As Group Facilities Manager for ECHarris LLP, I was recently tasked with the responsibility of managing the move from our previous premises to our new European HQ in Kings Cross. One of my key responsibilities was to set up a new security operation, combining manned security and access control systems. We decided to go 'in house' in the belief that we would attract a higher calibre of staff and generate greater commitment and loyalty through our reward and benefits scheme.
Recommended by The Security Industry Association, we commissioned RST Ltd of 3, Devonshire St, W1 to act as our consultants, with the following brief:
1) To prepare a detailed and comprehensive security plan
2) To identify job functions and recruit suitable staff
3) To carry out an extensive 3 week training programme
4) To write assignment instructions, recommend key performance indicators and audit performance.
As a company directly affected by the London bombings (7/7) we were determined to provide a robust and vigilant security service whilst maintaining a friendly and hospitable environment for both visitors and staff. Thanks largely to RST we have been able to achieve this and would like to thank all the Directors and staff who have assisted us. We have a team that we are all proud of and have the utmost confidence in.

Quality Management
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank RST for the work put in assisting in our successful ISO inspection this week. We are really pleased with the outcome and are now reflecting on the ways in which this will have a positive effect on our business. It has been a long time coming for us and we hope our working relationship with yourselves continues to grow and develop.

Training
At a recent review meeting with a major client, they remarked how pleased they were with the high quality of security staff provided for short notice and emergency cover. Whilst they were obviously new to the industry, it was clear that the guards had a thorough knowledge of all aspects of security guarding. "We would like to thank RST Ltd for providing us with such excellent staff at short notice!"
First Aid Training
RST provides training in Health & Safety including First Aid. These courses are held monthly in Central London. A recent course attendee Liz Pinder-Ayres writes:
I have been a practising acupuncturist for the past 8 years and need to ensure my First Aid Certificate is up to date. A group of colleagues and myself enrolled for the 'One-Day First Aid at Work Course' organised by RST Limited in great premises in Central London. As I worked in education for 30 years before becoming an acupuncturist I have high expectations of teaching and learning strategies used by course leaders.
I was very impressed by the course leader Bob. His teaching was excellent using strategies that enabled us to grasp and apply the knowledge, skills and understanding required, in ways that were not only well structured but fun. We completed the course feeling competent and confident to apply First Aid in emergency situations. Refreshments and lunch were an added bonus.
